Chocolate & Cherry Porridge Bowl

Chocolate & Cherry Porridge Bowl

Dark chocolate and Morello Cherry Porridge Bowl

For the cold and dark winter mornings this Chocolate & Morello Cherry Porridge Bowl will certainly get you ready for the day. It’s warming, keeps you fuelled and just has five ingredients; oats, cherry jam, chocolate, frozen cherries and milk (or water). I like to use half water and half milk when it comes to the liquid, this adds a nice creaminess to the porridge without being too heavy. Any dairy free milk works, however I like to use something different to oat milk because it’d be doubling up on oats.

Sweet & Tart Morello Cherry Preserve

The cherry jam is made by Single Variety Co and it’s a limited edition, so depending when you’re reading this, hopefully it’s still available if you want to try it! It’s a lovely sweet yet slightly tart preserve with whole Morello cherries throughout. It didn’t last long in my house! The tart Morello cherry jam pairs with the melted dark chocolate to create a Black Forest porridge bowl. The addition of the thawed frozen cherries and their juices add a light sweetness and loosens the porridge for a silky consistency. If you can’t get hold of the Single Variety Co Morello Cherry Preserve, you can try it with another cherry jam.
